Our logs are cut to 8 to 10 inches (roughly 20 to 26cm) in length and split:

Bulk bag dimensions are 95cm x 95cm x 108cm.
Log net dimensions are 45cm x 60cm.
Kindling net dimensions are 45cm x 60cm.

Seasoned logs naturally air-dry over time, providing a traditional and rustic fire experience with slightly higher moisture levels. Kiln-dried logs are dried in specialised kilns. Kiln-dried logs offer convenience, while seasoned logs are a more cost-effective option.

The Ready to Burn fuel certification scheme is an initiative in the United Kingdom aimed at promoting the use of clean and efficient wood fuels for domestic burning. It is managed by Woodsure, an independent certification body for wood fuels. The scheme ensures that firewood suppliers, such as Holme Firewood, meet specific quality and sustainability standards.

Under the Ready to Burn scheme, firewood must have a moisture content of 20% or less, ensuring efficient burning and reduced emissions. It also encourages the use of responsibly sourced wood fuels from sustainably managed forests, promoting environmental sustainability. Suppliers participating in the scheme undergo regular audits to verify compliance with the certification requirements.

By choosing Ready to Burn certified wood fuels, consumers can have confidence in the quality, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of the products they purchase. It provides assurance that the wood fuel meets the necessary standards for clean and efficient burning, contributing to improved air quality and reduced environmental impact.

There are several reasons to consider using wood fuel as a renewable and sustainable energy source:

  1. Renewable and Sustainable: Wood is a renewable resource, as trees can be replanted and regrown. Unlike fossil fuels, which are finite and contribute to climate change, wood fuel can be sustainably harvested, making it a greener energy option.
  2. Carbon Neutral: When wood fuel is burned, it releases carbon dioxide (CO2), but this is offset by the carbon absorbed by trees during their growth. As long as the harvested trees are replaced with new ones, wood fuel can be considered carbon neutral, meaning it does not contribute to net greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. Energy Independence: Using wood fuel allows for greater energy independence. It reduces reliance on fossil fuels and centralized energy systems, giving individuals and communities the ability to generate their own heat and power.
  4. Cost-Effective: Wood fuel can be a cost-effective heating option, especially in areas with abundant wood resources. It can help reduce energy bills and provide long-term savings compared to fossil fuel-based alternatives.
  5. Versatility: Wood fuel can be used in various heating systems, including stoves, boilers, and fireplaces. It can provide warmth for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, making it a versatile energy source.
  6. Local Economy: Using wood fuel supports local economies by creating jobs in forestry, logging, processing, and distribution. It contributes to the growth of sustainable and environmentally friendly industries.
  7. Natural and Cozy Ambiance: Wood fires create a unique ambiance and natural warmth that many find appealing. The crackling sound and comforting glow of a wood fire can enhance the cozy atmosphere of homes and spaces.

When properly sourced and used efficiently, wood fuel offers a sustainable and renewable energy alternative that can reduce carbon emissions, support local economies, and provide a cozy and natural heating solution.
